Shopping is always a joy to do.
Some even say it releases stress since it gives joy on rewarding ourselves or
our loved ones. However, for most of us, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we
like the hardships that we go through in shopping such as falling in line or
just getting tired walking around traditional mall checking each boutique that
we may want to purchase from. Not only do we encounter these hardships in
shopping but we also tend to spend more money when we come to think of it. From
the long hours of walking we usually end our shopping eating at restaurants and
fast food. We even tend to spend extra cash on our travel expense. In total, on
top of the items we buy we spend a lot on other things as well without even
realizing it sometimes.
As a result, most of us think of
online shopping as a helpful alternative in traditional shopping. Since we
control the time, we can do it whenever we want. They are just usually alive
during night. These are the customers who work on graveyard shift. However,
they can't go to malls during regular hours and are only free when it is
closed. It makes it harder for them to visit traditional malls. They can visit
traditional malls during the day off at work. Obviously, it's harder for them
to shop compared to people who work on normal hours. Now that they see online
shopping as an option, they can shop whenever they want. A lot of established
offline businesses are now shifting to online.
What's amazing is that it only
started last year in the Philippines. This all happened when Lazada came into
the picture. They are one of the first online shopping mall in the Philippines.
They are made available in other South East Asia countries. The industry of
Ecommerce has risen after they arrived in the country. The local online market
was influenced dearly by their arrival. The local online scene has no
competition so it only made sense to launch it in the country. The real
challenge for them is how they will convince the local online users to buy from
their website. Online payment wasn't highly regarded at that time that's why it
was hard for them to lure people. It is just difficult for online users since
they expose their credit card and personal information online.
People with credit cards in the
Philippines are actually hard to come by. This is one of the main reasons why
Ecommerce growth where slowed down. This doesn't mean that the local consumers
are unaware of local online payments. Since we initially see risk, we don't
give online malls any benefit of the doubt. Moreover, we just disregard online
malls in general from first encounter. It's inevitable that we think of them as
scammers online. The issues are the reasons why Ecommerce is a challenging
business in the Philippines. Upon Lazada's arrival, they created a solution for
these Ecommerce woes. The Philippines' Online Shopping Mall finally introduced
Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. in online. Their customers will no longer be bound
to pay right away as they can pay later after they received their actual orders
in real time.
It's true that online shopping save time and give much comfort.
