A
lot of new online shops are from nowhere now in the Philippines. The landing of
huge Ecommerce websites last year plays a huge part. Lazada is one of the key
players. It's a venture that also exists in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and
Malaysia. Rocket Internet powers them. A Germany based Ecommerce Company known
globally. I'm pretty sure you've seen them at one point. They are widely
regarded for investing a lot on their online marketing channels. This was their
way on making a stand in the local online market. It's really tough not to
notice them online. Their brand name had truly stick on the hearts of the
online users. They were actually facing an Ecommerce drought prior to their
arrival. It was obvious that their audience should be nurtured. So what they
did is they introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. This will allow their
customers to order online regardless if they are equipped to pay online or not.
It’s only logical since they majority of the population are not credit card
holders. It's the same reason why Ecommerce never took off in the beginning.
It's clear that we were not ready yet for such service in the past. We were
also not equipped with the proper technology at that time to support Ecommerce.
But now we do have it, it gave users the option to stay online most of the
time.
As a result, the market audience grew more than ever. It helped websites
like Lazada to lure more potential customers. There's a chance that they
intended their timing as they saw the potential of the Ecommerce rise in South
East Asia. They actually pushed the envelope even further as Ecommerce took off
to another level after their arrival. It converted traditional shoppers to
online shoppers. Their arrival opened their eyes on what convenience online
shopping can offer to them. With the presence of reliable online malls, it help
changed the perception of other. It allowed them to do their shopping wherever
they want. As long as you have your own Internet device, you can address your
shopping needs anytime.Despite having a lot of competitors, they still manage
to stand out. This is probably because they don't limit their customers in
payment method unlike other online stores. Conventionally, online stores only
allow payment via credit cards online. Online stores usually require their
customers to pay right away. Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. is exactly the
opposite.
Lazada actually allows their customers to order anything from their
website and have it directly processed without paying right away. They only
need to leave their address and Lazada will process it within 2-5 days. Lazada
only requires their customers to pay after they receive their orders right in
front of their doorsteps. This is actually a good advantage of customers over
online stores, which is usually the case in online. By having this kind of
setup, anyone wouldn’t mind trying them out.
