Nowadays
we have other options besides the conventional shopping on traditional malls.
It allows customers to become in control on when to do their shopping. This is
actually fitting for customers who don't control their busy schedule. This may be
for employees who work for night shift like customer agents or whatever. They
are the ones that truly like to start their activity during nighttime. Sadly, this
makes it really hard for them on their lifestyle. It's actually a limitation
factor for them when you come to think of it. For these people who have this
kind of schedule, they can only shop during their weekends. Their shopping time
is required to be scheduled unlike others who can do it freely anytime.
On
the brighter side, Ecommerce is stating to grow in the country. There are a lot
of online stores being put up as of late. Online shopping just started to boom
last year. It all started when Lazada was launched last year. They were one of
the first online malls to offer huge selections similar to a traditional mall.
They are also available in other key countries of South East Asia. Ever since
they arrived in Asia, the Ecommerce industry started to grow. It's clear
evidence that they were successful on their launch on the Asian market. It was
a perfect opportunity for them since there is only a few competitions in the
market. It was actually a challenge for them in the Philippines. The reason it
was hard is because the local online community are not open to online shopping
at that time.
The
majority of the population is actually afraid that paying online will risk
their credit card details. What makes it worse is that most of the local online
users are not credit card owners. It is one of the reasons why Ecommerce took a
while before it thrived in the country. We may be aware that it is widely used
on other countries, but we never experienced it. The problem with us is that we
judge it right away. Another thing that makes Ecommerce stagnant is because we
don't trust online stores. It's only natural that we assume that there's a
chance we can get scammed online. Combining these reasons will give a business
a hard time in convincing any customers to try their website. However, Lazada's
penetration in the local market was different since they offer an alternative
payment method that will dissolve this kind of online shopping woes. They
offered Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. that allows almost any kind of customers to
order from their website and pay in cash instead. They only require their
customers to pay only after they receive their orders.
